The Crystal Inn Hotel & Suites is hands down the best hotel in Salt Lake and its surrounding areas. I can only liken it to my hotel stays in Las Vegas and Palm Springs with my parents and beloved grandparents in the 1970’s &1980’s. The customer service at the Crystal Inn is from a dying pool of ideologies surrounding restaurant and hotel management in which people actually took pride in their various positions and truly believed in providing their guests with a superior customer experience! Well with regard to outstanding customer service the Crystal Inn does not disappoint! And folks believe me you we’ve stayed in just about every hotel in the area! And absolutely no one does it like the Crystal In! Honestly no detail is too great with regard to the meticulous efforts of upper management and their employees. Specifically, the general manager, Vanessa. I had to take a double take when walking back from the car through the 1st floor corridor and sure enough it was Vanessa, who I had just spoke with the day before on the elevator and she was wearing her GM garb. Anyhow on this day she wore one of the housekeeping outfit. She stood reviewing a piece of paper and I said, “Hi Vanessa!” She immediately looked up from her paperwork and smiled from ear to ear. Anyhow we had a brief back and forth but she was focussed on getting back to cleaning the guest room. Now I thought that is total dedication! It really shows one’s character as well as leading by example ergo if Vanessa can step-in to lend a hand in any employees duties. Well the employee in any of these departments think to themselves, “Hey, I might be able to be promoted into a different position but until then I’ll strive for excellence!” When walking into the hotel lobby you are greeted with a welcoming smile and a respectful yet refreshing playful banter! So the front desk employees really set the stage for one’s stay at the hotel!

Great room for the price! And only 30 min away from the slopes (we went to Brighton and Snowbird). When we go on ski trips we usually only look for a clean place to sleep in and we don't splurge on hotels. So we were pleasantly surprised with the room we got here. It was quite big and very comfortable. It has a living room area with a couch, coffee table and even a small dining table, which we appreciated because most days we like to stay in after a full day of skiing. The bed was comfortable. The shower/bathtub was great too. Breakfast was good enough. Nothing fancy, but we got our egg sandwiches and coffee in.

5 minute drive from freeway and mall, free and ample parking, safe location, friendly staff, quick check in, good sized rooms, comfy beds, small fridge, heater & a/c work good, good wifi reception, indoor pool (lukewarm) and jacuzzi, check out later than most hotels and was at noon. Breakfast good (scrambled eggs, sausage links, bagels, different types of juice, coffee, hot chocolate, fresh fruit, cottage cheese, potatoes). we got a great price, which was about $40 lower than other hotels in the area.

Overall value and friendly and helpful staff with the exception of one front desk employee. The "one" front desk employee wasn't impolite but was not genuinely helpful (see What I didn't like Section). However, this should not detract from my overall experience with every single one of the other employees I came across during my stay that were friendly and truly helpful.

Although an older building it looks like it's kept up well and clean. Must have great staff to accomplish that. The front office staff were very friendly. Breakfast was a nice little buffet. The cut up fruit, eggs, and potatoes were best. Good juice choices. Location was phenomenal. We'll be reserving this place again when traveling through SLC.
